Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
This marks his first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
Success also means he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.
His defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced service.
He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour title, took control to force a decider.
He defended four initial break points in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
