Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening cup on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
